Youth Studio Apartment

A young couple asked me to do an arrangement of a studio apartment in a youthful manner to fit a fast-paced lifestyles and unpredictable. The space is of the medium size but with great height which allowed me to play with many contrasts of lights, materials or surfaces. It consists of a bathroom and an open space that includes the kitchen, living room and bedroom.

The kitchen is the room that connects studio and residential building. It consists of a working area, a cooking area and a storage locker with two built-in ovens. The cooking area is the centerpiece of the kitchen, it has a chart pattern printed after a drawing of the urban artist Retna. Other mobile bodies are closed with mate metal plates.

Around the cooking zone, we have 4 high minimalist metal chairs that have red seat. Red was used as an accent color in the whole arrangement with purple. Central and floor lamps bring to the ambience a note of the industrial light. The entire flooring of the studio apartment is from glossy epoxy resin which significantly increases the level of general lighting.

The living room is a transit space between the kitchen and bedroom. It was designed as a sitting and conversations area, easily accessible to those who are in the kitchen and in bedroom. Composed of the TV and sitting area, it is distinguished by antiphonal plywood behind the TV, plywood with purple reflections which serves to absorb noises caused in the kitchen and by TV and an esthetic role. The console on which the TV stands was designed from MDF and painted red.

The bedroom is divided into two zones: sleeping area where is found in the matrimonial bed and the hobby area in which is found the musical instruments of the beneficiary, a real contrast. On the wall that connects the two areas I chose the same pattern of urban artist Retna, but in a darker version to represent the night zone of the studio apartment.

According to the living room glass table, the nightstands were made of glass, except their base that is made of particleboard and are covered with mirrors. In front of the bed it was chosen a bench with narrow feet that reminds the industrial decorations, and on the seat was chosen the same lining with the headboard.
